Your background
I am 17 year olds. I grew up playing sports year round up until I was 15. At 15 years old I decided I wanted to work for myself. I didn’t think school was beneficial to me anymore, so when I was 16 I decided to leave school and pursue entrepreneurship full time. I went through more than 5 different online business niches before I landed on e-commerce. I opened a shopify store in October of 2020, and after 4 months I only had 1 sale. In February I came across kibo, and I knew it was right for me.
Why did you decide to join Kibo Code?
I decided to join kibo after watching the presentation and getting the feeling that this was the perfect opportunity for me to pursue. I liked the idea of free traffic, and I already had some prior experience with e-commerce, so I decided to go all in with kibo.
Were there any roadblocks for you? What did you do to overcome these?
Yes, I was banned from facebook marketplace multiple times, had my google ads account suspended, and my catalog wouldn’t upload to microsoft or pinterest. For facebook I used a relative’s facebook to start listing products until I got my original account back. For google I had to create another ads account after not being able to get a response from google ads support team. For microsoft and pinterest I worked with the support team to find the issue and resolve it.
Your tips for choosing winning products?
Find products that have proven sales, but aren’t extremely saturated. Also don’t only post products that you think will sell, b/c most of the time it’s the products that you wouldn’t expect that end up being the best sellers.
Your top traffic and advertising tips?
Have a wide variety of products, the more products you have the better chance there is of finding a winner. Once you find a winner, test out multiple advertising markets like google, microsoft, and facebook to see which works best for that specific product.
Your top 5 recommendations for building your ecommerce business?
- Don’t focus too much on the negatives.
- The more products you test, the more likely you are to find a big winner.
- Have a plan/goal for the day ahead.
- Get exercise to help clear your mind.
- Don’t give up as soon as things get a little hard.
Any other tips or nuggets of wisdom?
You have to know what you want, so that your mind can start working towards achieving it.
